Metamorphic Threads
For my final project at Central Saint Martins, I looked to the volatility of nature as a way of understanding transformation, its unpredictability, its intensity, and the way change rarely happens in a straight line. From that idea I coined three stages, cocoon, break out, and acceptance, and built each one into a structural, wearable piece using knitted textiles I made entirely by hand. The final stage of the project was photographic, an editorial shoot placing the garments against a bold red background, where the blues and greens woven through each piece seem to glimmer against the red, echoing the same volatility the whole project began with.

the inspiration for this project stemmed from the voltality of nature and how that mirrors the ‘journey’ of transformation.
The structure of the garments was such a key element to the overall aesthetic of the shoot
